"Cinema Paradiso," a 173-minute drama, was released in Italy in 1988 under the direction of Giuseppe Tornatore. Esteemed as one of the most highly evaluated films in Italy, it significantly boosted the Italian film industry and enhanced the international image of Italian cinema.

The narrative centers on the protagonist, Toto, tracing his journey from his early days. The film vividly captures Toto's passion for filmmaking and editing, mentored by Alfredo, the projectionist. Toto aspires to become a professional in the film industry. Additionally, the film explores Toto's first romantic relationship with Alena. However, the core of the story lies in the profound relationship between Alfredo and Toto, transcending the typical teacher-student dynamic that expresses the feeling of father and son.

In the film's climactic scenes (from 150 to 163 minutes), Toto returns to his hometown for Alfredo's funeral. Subsequently, he receives two films that Alfredo had preserved for him. The first captures moments with his first girlfriend Alena, filmed by Toto, while the second, edited by Alfredo, comprises a montage of kiss scenes. Watching these in the now-closed cinema of his youth, Toto is overwhelmed with emotion, reflecting on Alfredo’s paternal influence, expanding the film knowledge by showing film technique, and his own nostalgic memories of film. This moment underscores the passage of time and Toto’s deep-seated reverence for the cinematic experiences of his formative years.
